This is the magic land of the Maya - 1600 years ago.
To give you an idea of the size of the modern town of Copan, this image was taken with a 12X, 3.2 MP camera - while standing 100 meters from the town square.  Carol was in a very dusty shop rummaging for bargains.  After taking this photo I was greeted by Carol coming from the shop saying, "I can't make up my mind which piece of pottery to buy, the big bowl or the small one." I asked, "How much are they?"
"Fourteen dollars for one and $8 for the other.
