This is the 100 mile cruise down the Mississippi River to the Gulf.  Some call it the Mighty Mississippi.  Others the Muddy Mississippi.  It is the mud and silt that this river carries that replenished the delta, however, the man made dikes or levees prevent flooding .  Rather than allow the river to flood the delta, the levees force the water and silt to shoot down the river into the Gulf.  The delta is dying.  Erosion is the devil here.
