Barcelona - Spain:
We woke up early, ate a full breakfast as usual, then were joined by Carol's friend from work - Judy and her husband Roger - for our tour of Barcelona. It was a short walk from the ship to the main pedestrian promenade called La Rambla.
We strolled past the shops and cafes until we came to a main square where we caught a local tour bus. There is much to see in Barcelon including the olympic site, but what we discovered was the architecture of Antonio Gaudi (1852 - 1926).

View from inside the Church

Gaudi's most famous structure is probably the unfinished Church of the Sagrada Familia - right. He supervised the construction of the church from 1884 until his death.

Gaudi also planned a hillside park called the Parc Güell, begun in 1900 and also unfinished. On left, we get ready to enter the hillside park. Centre, John stands outside entrance. Right, Judy, Roger and John admire the view from the park
The bus tour was great. A ticket allowed you to get off at any of the tour attractions and stay as long as you wanted . . until another bus came along. One of the stops was the public garden which, because of its arid climate, is famous for its cacti and other tropical plants.

Anyway it was time to return to the ship and get ready to sail to Mallorca.
