Sailing to Mallorca Barcelona was wonderful but it was time to venture on to our next destination - the island of Mallorca. We returned to the ship and enjoyed another evening with our newly acquired friends. Mallorca - also spelled Majorca - is the largest island of the Balearic group. It lies about 160 kilometers off the eastern coast of Spain and is a Spanish possession. To see tour map - click here. Palma is the only large city. |
Touring the Island The island has an area of about 3,626 square kilometers. So, the next day, when we arrived in Palma, we rented a car with Greg and Lurdes and proceeded to tour the island and some of its small villages. The scenery was lovely with poppey fields in full glory. |

Back on board the ship it was time to relax with
friends in preparation for the full day cruise to Rome
where we would join those from our dinner table and about
30 others for a 5 day ground tour of Rome, Florence and
Venice. Now on to Rome. |
